              Machiavellian  Games

  The Shire of Border Vale Keep is pleased to announce the fourth
  installment of the Machiavellian Games scheduled for November 9-11 at
  the 4-H Camp in Augusta, GA. There will be heavy fighting, rapier,
  archery, Hound Coursing A&S competitions and bardic circles, games,
  and all kinds of surprises. Site: The 4-H Camp in Augusta, GA, opens
  Friday Nov. 9 at 5:00 pm. Site closes at 12:00 noon Sunday.
  Venues:
  Heavy Fighting.. Look for a cloak and dagger tourney and a 2 army war
  for Saturday afternoon.
  Rapier- We plan a full day of tourneys.
  Archery- There will also be archery tournaments. Hound Coursing- We
  have special permission from the 4-H camp for this activity. Please
  contact the autocrat to find out if we have a marshal for this event.
  Hound Coursing- We are pleased to announce that we will again have
  the hounds this year.  Contact Huntsman Kari Kyst at (864) 409-0022
or scahound at netzero.net if you plan to course your hound.  Proof or
rabies vaccination is required.
  Feast- This year a sumptuous feast will be prepared by Duke Logan.
  There is limited feast space, so reserve early to guarantee a space
  at one of the best and most entertaining feasts in the kingdom.
  The Crew of the Militant Mermaid will once again be offering it's
  famous hot beverage bar to battle the cold winds of November.

  The day of the event will be filled with many activities, including
  A&S competitions, which will include best tales or songs dealing with
  treachery and/or mayhem, accessories for intrigue and war; our famous
  assassin's guild (for the measly price of a dollar, you can have
  anyone you desire "done in"), the infamous "Know you Poisons"
  competition (traditionally a written exam), Games of "Spies and
  Rumors' and Killer; bardic circles (one for everyone and one for
  adults ONLY-18 and above, NO exceptions), entertainers, children's
  activities, and games.

    The site is dry. No ground fires allowed at all, except at the
  designated fire pit. No smoking except in designated areas. No pets
  allowed, except for the coursing hounds. Anyone who brings a pet that
  is not a coursing hound will have to be asked to make other
  arrangements. Please respect the rules that the 4-H requires us to
  follow. Anyone violating the ground rules will be handed over to the
  pirates.

  Fees: Onsite -Onboard-$15; Onsite- Offboard-$10; children 6-13 are
  half-price; babes-in-arms are guests of the shire.  Day Trip is $5.
  Please specify the ages of children. There is plenty of room for
  tenting and there are limited spaces in two heated dorm style cabins,
  one with children and one without. Parents are requested to put their
  older children in the upper bunks so that there is room for adults.
  If you would prefer hotel space, there is a list being drawn up for
  suitable hotels.  A list will be posted to the Merry Rose.

  Directions:
   From I-20 take the 196-A exit onto 520 or the Bobby Jones Expressway.
  Go all the way down to Exit 10 (Doug Barnard, Bush Field) and turn
  right. Follow the Doug Barnard parkway for 3 miles and *look for the
  4-H sign on the right. Turn right onto 4-H Rd., the camp is ~ 200
  feet up the road to the left. From Hwy 78/US1: Take Hwy 78/US1 into
  Augusta (called Gordon Hwy in town) and drive until you get to the
  Doug Barnard Parkway. Turn left onto Doug Barnard Parkway and then
  follow the directions for 5.9 miles and then follow from the * above.
