at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Simpsonville

Join the SCA for the second year in a row at a medieval fair. At this demo, the SCA is an integral part, along with entertainers, activities and merriment provided by the very creative church members and a host of other groups and performers.  This is the fourth year for the Medieval Fair and each year it gets better and better. Last year, over 800 people attended. Proceeds go toward Habitat for Humanity. 
Kid activities:  pony rides, puppet shows, games, air castle, maypole, make your own shield, sword or circlet, Bop the Knight and more.
 For the adults: enjoy skits, an incredible silent auction, labyrinth  history, great food and great drink. Avoid being put in the stocks, watch for the knight on horseback and revel in the atmosphere of a medieval fair.  Enjoy  lots of atmosphere with castle wall and drawbridge entrances. Period music and dancing. Visit the marketplace where you'll find crafts, art and medieval wares. This is one place all your flash, drama, style, fighting skill, and creative works will be appreciated.  
Martial Arts: Friday night will feature a torchlight demonstration tourney. Saturday, heavy weapons and rapier demonstration tourneys and a hopefully a melee a balsita, and target shoots with crossbows, combat arrows. Prizes are being awarded  the Holy Cross Episcopal Church with the church's device on them. 
Arts & Sciences: Friday night and Saturday: A&S demos and an A&S display. Bring your pavilions, banners, heraldic display, armor, weapons, rapier gear. We'd like to set up a working medieval village so bring your spinning wheels, looms, musical instruments, and all the A&S items you'd like to show
off.  If you want to set up a working shop, we will provide the space. Blacksmiths, metalcasters, chain mail, illuminators, wood painters, any craft is welcome.  Contact the autocrrat to reserve a space. In addition there will be a prize for A&S in a popular vote category. Prizes provided by the church. 
Fees: FREE to SCA folks!.  In fact your get paid. Each SCA member in attendance receives food and beverage concession tickets. 
Food:  Food is available at the fair booths on-site, cooked by church members. Friday is breadbowls with beef stew. Saturday enjoy turkey and chicken legs, delicious Italian beef sandwiches and homemade chocolate covered cheesekcake ice cream. A cake walk and bake sale will also be held. Beverages
include soda, coca and beer. All at a reasonable price. 
Merchants: Craft-sellers and merchants are welcome to set up booths, please contact the autocrat. 
The site is the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Simpsonville, SC, worth a visit just for their brick labyrinth. The site is wet. Camping is allowed on-site for medieval pavilions and merchants on the field. Contact the autocrat for space. Porta-potties will be available. An off-duty policeman is on guard all night to protect your goods if you set up on Friday night and want to sleep at home.

Directions: From Greenville, S.C. Take Laurens Road in Greenville to Hwy. 417,which turns into Hwy 14  follow into Simpsonville. Before you reach downtown, turn left onto E. College  Road .(This is the same road as the church where Sorcha and Bastian got married).  Holy Cross Episcopal Church is on  your left.
