Greetings from Highland Foorde, Current holder of the Lochmere Arrow ...
The defense of the Lochmere Arrow is now only a few weeks away, at a
Pilgram's Tale in Roxbury Mill, on October 20th. Currently scheduled to
begin at 3:00pm
I, Lord Siegfried Sebastian Faust, wish to take this time to accomplish two
tasks.
First of all, to note a change in the published shoot information. The
third shoot as published was to be a shoot at a Dragon. However, this
particular shoot must be changed due to issues beyond our control. It
seems that our Dragon is being held hostage by the mundane King's
Guards. (That is to say that the storage shed in which our dragon target
was/is stored is on National Guard property, and since the National Guard
is currently at ThreatCon Charlie, due to recent attacks on American Soil
... The dragon is currently inaccessible.)
We have however, bartered, with our Pilgrim friends, and have obtained a
number of New World Dragons(tm) that will be used for the shoot
instead! (That is to say, Styrofoam Turkeys!)
Secondly, I wished to provide the archers of Atlantia who may be
considering shooting for the honor of the Lochmere Arrow some more
specifics on the shoots being planned. The entire shoot is as follows:
Mixed Up Royal Round Target - I have two 'standard' Royal Round targets
that have the colors 'jumbled' on them (ie, gold ring isn't in the center,
white isn't on the outside, etc.) Two ends of 6 arrows each will be fired
by each archer at these targets. Each end will be at a different
distance. Scoring will be as normal, based upon the color of the ring.
Pick Your Target - The standard Royal Round range will be set up, but with
smaller circular targets on each butt. When shooting each archer has the
choice for each of his/her arrows as to which target they wish to shoot
at. Arrows will be scored as either hitting the circular target, or
not. Hits at 40yds will be worth 5 points, at 30yds 4 points, and at 20yds
3 points. Two ends will be shot by each archer. One untimed end of 6
arrows, and one speed end of 30 seconds.
New World Dragons - Three New World Dragons will be set out for the mighty
archer teams to attempt to slay, such that Feast may occur on time. This
shoot will be a 'team' shoot, and timed. Each team of archers will be
allowed 120 seconds to attempt to shoot all three NWD's ... Simply making
it move will count as a hit. The time will count down, and upon the final
NWD being shot the timer will stop. The number of seconds left will be the
score for the team for this shoot. NOTE: Yes, this means that this shoot
COULD take 2 minutes per team. If we have a LARGE number of teams that
would make this unreasonable, we may reduce the time limit to 60 seconds,
and make the score as second left times 2 ...
In service,
Siegfried
