Here are the current scenarios for the battles at this weekend's Kingdom
Crusades. For more event details, see the web page at
http://www.mfgraffix.com/kingdomcrusades/. BTW, we currently have about 25
merchants signed up for the event, in addition to the A&S exhibition and
classes, children's activities, bardic gathering, fencing, archery, and Youth
Fighter Program acitivities. Cabin space is sold out but there is still
plenty of camping space available.
CALL FOR HELP: If anyone is interested in being able to get onto site early
in exchange for helping to set up some pavilions and shade tents and laying
out the lines for the parking area, please let me know. We can let you in any
time in the AM on Friday. Anyone able to stay on Sunday to help us police the
cabins and take down said pavilions and shade tents (no later than 2 PM!!)
will receive our undying love and devotion, as well as a promise that Leri
and I will NOT ask you for help next year! ; )

FIELD BATTLES Note: Combat archery will be allowed in each field battle. ALL
BATTLE INFORMATION AND STARTING TIMES ARE AT THE WHIM OF THE CROWNS!
-- FIRST FIELD BATTLE
The forces of the East and Atlantia will begin the day with a straight up
field battle to the last fighter. Sides will not be evened up for the first
battle.
-- SECOND FIELD BATTLE
In the second field battle, sides will be evened up. The armies of each side
will be divided into small units of equal size. For example, each army will
be divided into six units of twenty-five fighters per unit. The Queens of the
East and Atlantia will each control one army. At lay on, each Queen will send
one unit onto the field. Every 20 seconds, the Queens select and send another
unit. The battle is fought to the last man.
-- THIRD FIELD BATTLE
Sides remain even but the Chivalry of the East and Atlantia do not fight. The
unbelts are on their own.
STAMFORD BRIDGE BATTLE
One bridge, 18' wide by 50' long. No combat archery allowed. To encourage
maximum fighting, the battle will last 15 minutes. Marshals will check
possession of the center point of the bridge three times. These checks will
be random and no holds will be called for the purpose of the check. The
victor will be the side with possession of the center point at two of the
three checks. At the end of the battle, if there is a tie, the marshals will
call a hold and all fighters still living will fight to the last man for
possession of the bridge.
ISLAND HOPPING
Each side will control 7 islands. Each island will be garrisoned by up to
seven soldiers. Knights and Masters must garrison the islands and cannot
travel in boats. The islands will each have one landing point which is a
narrow entry point marked by hay bales. The remaining troops will be divided
into "boats", being units which travel together in a boat-like way (no one
will be roped together or otherwise hobbled). Boats will contain no more than
25 soldiers. Eastern and Atlantian boats will launch from opposite shores.
Each boat will have a captain who will direct the maneuver of the boat. The
vikings in the boats will attempt to take the enemy's islands by storming
through the landing points. Only one boat at a time may attack an island and
the boats may not stand off and fire shots at the defenders but must land to
attack. Boats may not attack boats, but may recapture islands previously
taken by the enemy. Victory goes to the army which occupies the majority of
the islands at the end of 30 minutes.
BOOTY RAID
For the first battle, Atlantia will defend five hay bales spaced evenly along
the Atlantian start line within circles painted on the ground. At the
opposite end of the field, at the Eastern start line, there will also be five
circles painted on the ground. At lay on, the East will attempt to capture
the Atlantian bales and place one in each circle on the Eastern end of the
field. Once captured and placed in the opposite circle, the bale is removed
from play. Time limit is 20 minutes and victory is achieved by capturing
three of the five bales in the manner described above. Capturing three bales
stops the clock and ends the battle. The sides will then switch, with
Atlantia attacking and the East defending. Combat archery is allowed in these
battles. Attackers in these battles get one resurrection.
