sure it is.  the standards call for "rigid material"  but do not define what
that material is.  of course, by definition, cardboard is rigid as is ice,
but, the rest falls into common sense (which is far from common).  abs
certainly is legal but dont go with thin stuff like 1/8".  then we have to
allow the marshallate to make decisions (oy vey).

This reminds me.  Is ABS plastic legal for gauntlets?
I have to do some repair work on a hard saddlebag and
I was tempted to try and mold a set of gauntlets at
the same time.
