Greetings Gentle Atlantians,

The time has come once again to refill the Oak's coffers so that we may
continue to publish Atlantia's Arts & Sciences newsletter. As you know, on
January 5th, 2002, Atlantia will celebrate Twelfth Night in Dun Carraig
(Hollywood Fire House, Hollywood, MD). During these festivities, a raffle
and sealed-bid auction will be held to raise funds for The Oak.

About the Raffle

The raffle will be a "Marinus-style basket raffle," with each ticket
costing $2.00. Simply purchase as many tickets as you wish, write your name
(or the name of the person you wish to win) on the back of each, and place
each ticket in a basket next to the item you desire.

Among the items that will be up for raffle are:

Genuine Atlantian University Varsity Cambok T-Shirts donated by
Earl Dafydd ap Gwystl.

Genuine Atlantian 10-Year Celebration T-Shirt (Rare Collector's Item!)
donated by Earl Dafydd ap Gwystl.

Wooden jewel boxes donated by Heather of Loch Raven.

A scribe's starter kit donated by Mistress Deirdre O'Siodhachain.

A knit Tudor pouch and pincushion donated by Baroness Isobel Bedingfield.

An anklet of copper and bone; an anklet of bone, glass, bells, and copper;
and a necklace of glass beads, copper beads, and hematite; donated by
Heather of Loch Raven.

About the Auction

A sealed-bid auction will also be held for a turned walnut triangle
backstool (and possibly other items). Simply write your bid on a slip of
paper and place it in the lockbox. At the end of the day, the person with
the highest bid on that item wins.

A picture of the backstool is available at:

The Oak is the Arts and Sciences Newsletter for the Kingdom of Atlantia. It
is published twice each year by the Office of the Kingdom Chronicler.
Copies of The Oak are distributed to all members of the SCA receiving the
Acorn and to all contributors. The Oak receives no guaranteed funding from
the Society For Creative Anachronism (SCA) Corporate Office or the Kingdom
and relies on fund-raising to cover printing and mailing costs. To maintain
a regular schedule, The Oak must raise over $2,000 every year.
