Charlesbury Crossing's First Annual Market Day Fair and Tourney
November 16-18, 2001
King's Mountain State Park - Camp York
Blacksburg, SC
Come One, Come All! Charlesbury Crossing invites you to our first Market
Day and Tourney...
Market Day
Many of you are probably wondering: Just what is a Market Day? Our Market
Day is envisioned as an opportunity to bring your excess SCA gear or
SCA-related Arts and Crafts and give, trade, barter or sell them away.
Those of us who have been in the SCA for many years often have redundant
gear due to upgrading over time. The older stuff is lying around and
cluttering up the castle! Newcomers are always looking for beginning gear
or an opportunity to upgrade their gear. Here is an opportunity for both
parties to meet and for both to benefit by it. Think of it as something on
the order of a Medieval Garage sale. J
So, clean out those attics and dungeons and be a Merchant For A Day at the
Fair. Individuals, families, households, cantons or baronies are invited to
set up as a group. Each group will need to provide their own Market
Stall. This can be anything from a blanket or ground cloth to a pavilion.
We will have plenty of room for everyone. For further instructions and
suggestions on participating in our Market Day visit our website at
http://charlesbury.atlantia.sca.org/ or contact the Autocrat.
Tourney
HRH Logan Ebonwoulfe has organized another spectacular day of martial
exploits! It will begin with a Warlord Tourney. A five round Bedford
Points Tourney will follow this. Please contact our Marshall In Charge,
Duke Logan via: dukelogan at directvinternet.com or check out our website at
http://charlesbury.atlantia.sca.org/ for the Tourney Rules. There will be a
Fighters Pack for the winner of the Warlord Tourney. The winner of the
Bedford Points Tourney will receive a handsome, engraved, Pewter mug.
Merchants
As always, Merchants are cordially invited and eagerly sought to attend our
event. If you desire, you may reserve a space in Merchants Row by
contacting the Autocrat.
Arts & Sciences
We will be holding an open display of all the Arts and Sciences of Atlantia.
We strongly encourage all Artisans and Crafts people to bring their work and
display it for the populace. We ask all good nobles to bring tokens to gift
those artisans whose work you would like to encourage. The display will
take place in the Feast Hall.
Baron Achbar ibn Ali is sponsoring two heraldic contests:
1) Best Heraldic Banner Contest: This will be for the best display of a
Personal, Household, Canton or Baronial Banner, to be judged by Baron
Achbar. All banners are to be displayed in the Feast Hall.
2) Best Heraldic Display in the Tournament: This will be for the best
display of heraldry in the tournament and will include: Shields, Tabards,
Banners, etc. Baron Achbar will be judging the entire ensemble.
