At the September Golden Dolphin meeting, the following were RETURNED:
Alys de Shaunde Name.
This was pended from August in order to check the documentation for
de Shaunde'. No documentation was submitted, and Golden Dolphin's
staff could not find any. If you have documentation, it must be
submitted at the same time as the name; if the documentation is from
a book, we require photocopies of the title page, the publication
data (usually on the reverse of the title page), and any relevant
pages with the relevant information highlighted. We need 2 copies of
all this information; 1 to keep in the kingdom files and one to send
to Laurel.
Bran Trefonin Badge resubmission.
(Fieldless) Three birds close conjoined in annulo sable.
For House Corvus.
This was pended from August in order to check against the drawing
of the original badge. This current submission is unlike that one,
so it does not benefit from the grandfather clause' and must be
returned for a redraw.
The charges on fieldless badges must touch, but may not overlap as
the birds do here. We suggest that the heads of the birds be angled
somewhat so that the beak and face lie alongside the end of the tail.
Ian Munro. Device resubmission.
Sable, a fess wavy between an owl displayed and a turtle tergiant
argent.
This conflicts with the device of Sir Francis Drake: Sable, a fess
wavy between two estoiles argent. (Important non-SCA arms.)
There is only one Clear Difference between these two arms, and that
is from the changes to the type of the charges around the fess.
(Golden Dolphin notes that Ian has already resubmitted these arms,
adding a bordure.)
Marion le Red Device.
Per fess argent fretty and azure, in base a daisy proper.
This is being returned for a number of reasons, all of them
administrative.
1.) Old forms that were superceded in the spring of 1999, two and a
half years ago. Please see your local herald for new forms (dated
v1.2 3/23/2000 JKT) or go to http://herald.atlantia.sca.org/ and
download the required forms. Please watch the size at printout --
the shield should be 5 inches wide and 6 inches high, plus or minus
no more than 1/2 inch.
2.) Color copy machine used. Golden Dolphin banned the use of color
printers and/or copiers in June of this year, after 3 months notice
in the Acorn and on the Merry Rose and Atlantian Heralds email lists.
The reason for this is the notorious instability of the inks used in
some printers and copiers; colors frequently change dramatically in
the time that it takes for submission. You may photocopy your line
drawings on a black-and-white machine, but they must be colored by
hand in an acceptable medium such as Crayola markers.
3.) The line drawing is unacceptable; the lines on it are so thin
that they will disappear in the photocopy shrinkage used to generate
the Letter of Intent. The lines from an ordinary ballpoint pen are
usually marginal, but these are much too thin -- indeed, in places
there were no lines at all. The line produced by the felt tip pen
marketed as 'Flair' is ideal.
In addition, the fretty of the upper portion was skewed
significantly. Had there been no other problems, we would have sent
it to Laurel, but would not have been surprised to see it returned
for a redraw. Please fix it before any resubmission.
