Problem is that we are limited to 100 yrds right now, there is a fear that anything stronger would kill someone. A trebuchet is only limited by the length of the arm, and the counter weight.
I think we need to focus on man powered treb for combat, and others could be used for demos.

Dear Lord Mungoe,
Several of my co-workers got very excited at the recent Punkin Chunkin
contest here in Raleigh, where various kinds of catapults hurled ten pound
gourds for hundreds of yards.
They knew I was in the SCA, so of course they asked me what I knew about it.
I said that it certainly sounded like something the Society would love, but
I had to admit that I'd heard nothing about Atlantians flinging pumpkins.
So, your note is very timely.
There appear to be many local Punkin Chunkin contests leading up to the
annual World Championship in Delaware. (In the unlimited category,
long-bore compressed air cannons are expected to shoot more than a mile next
year!) They certainly seem like a good opportunity for an SCA demo.
Perhaps we could show off a line of war engines made from the
much-anticipated uniform Atlantian blueprints. Or, better yet, maybe
Atlantia could challenge neighboring kingdoms to compete in next October's
Punkin Chunkin contests.
Your servant,
Charles Fleming
