Greetings,
Just a clarification about the class I'm teaching at the June University.
It is described ( not by me, but then, I probably forgot to send in a
description) as the following:
603 - The Well-Dressed Funeral (Jessamyn di Piemonte)
Examples of burial clothes, what we can learn from them, and the
techniques that can be used for making garb.
1. This is a class about what you would wear to attend a funeral, as the
corpse or as a mourner. A mourner could be a relative, or someone who is
paid. We'll talk about both.
2. The scope will be primarily France, England, and Italy. High middle
ages through Renaissance. Any more, and we'd be there for hours in the
plural, instead of the singular.
3. There will be no techniques involved.
Yes, it's an odd topic, but you know the old saying:
It isn't who you are, it's what you wear.
or in this case:
It isn't who you were, it's how you looked.
Jessamyn
