i agree with richard (dear lord man, i thinks thats twice for both of us.
dogs and cats sleeping together must be right around the corner). however,
wobble is also caused by the weight versus the length of the spear and the
husk is the heaviest part. i have a skinned stick thats about 8 1/2' long
and its very very light. also, no wobble. while my old polearm is only 6'
and it wobbles a little (the one bladed head has been removed). either way,
dont do it is good advice.
so maybe the dogs and cats are safe for now.

Don't do it. The biggest problem with rattan spears is wobble. The skin is
strongest part of the rattan. Taking the skin off dramatically increases
the wobble. My suggestion would be to just start with the right kind of
rattan. 1.25" or 1.5" diameter rattan of just the right kind. Not too
wobbly, not to soft, not too light, not too dense. Just my two farthings
worth...
