Grammar is not irrelevant here.  What you have is just dictionary pulls.

For the first one, you'd use either "Defendens democratia regna laurea" 
(for singular person) or "Defendentes democratia regna laurea".  Here 
defendens is a present participle from defendo, democratia is an ablative 
of separation and regna laurea is neuter plural accusative.

The second is less clear cut since it depends on how you handle the 
essentially adverbial phrase.  Assuming that you are addressing this to 
more than one person, I'd use "Gravissime eos ferite."
