Greetings Atlantia !!!
I hope that all those going to Gulf War are getting as geared up and excited
at I am!!!
......here are some points of information for you....

If you had not heard, we do have a different piece of land this year. We
have been moved close to the main hall. It looks as though we will have at
least to 100 Atlantian campers in this spot. Remember, though, as there are
no assigned spaces within Atlantian land, it is first come, first serve. So
please be kind to your neighbors when you set up your area as to make the
best use of the land so that there will be plenty of room for everyone.
If you have not been to the War before, when you arrive on site, you will
pull in and the troll building will be on your right,...the Main Hall is
just across from Troll, it will be on your left.....Atlantia's land will
start just in front of the Main Hall ( a crude site map is located at
http://www.gulfwars.org/Site%20X.html ) . Atlantian Royal will be in the
Bunk House which is the back end and right side of the hall (as you are
looking at the hall). There will be maps on site indicating where our land
is, but this should help you to know where to start looking.
While at the War, I am scheduled to have a meeting and "walk around" with
the Land crat to determine if this is a suitable spot for Atlantia to
inhabit for future wars. If you have input or thoughts on this matter,
please let me know. I want Atlantia to get a permanent spot that we all
like.
I will not be arriving until Wed. night, so if you have thoughts about the
land situation, you would be really helping me out if you saved them for my
ear. Complaining to an already over-worked and stressed out staff does
nothing but lower the foothold that I have tried to gain during these
negotiations. I know it seems a bit silly, but I have been able to build up
a very nice working relationship with the land staff, so if you could voice
your concerns to me, we have a MUCH better chance of getting what we want
for the future. Again, my ultimate goal is to get permanent land for
Atlantia so that as our contingent grows over the next few years,( as I am
sure that it will) our Kingdom can have a camping spot that we really like,
that will be easily expanded to accommodate larger numbers.

Now, the fun stuff.....
There is lots to see and do at Gulf War!
One of the big concerns is always the weather!!! It has been freezing, it
has been hot, and, if were there a couple years ago you know...boy, can it
be wet!!! Right now it is not looking too bad. The Gulf War web site,
http://www.gulfwars.org/
has an updated extended weather forecast that you can check daily. Please
make sure you have plenty of warm clothes and plastic bins to pack up
anything you don't want to get wet!

ALL FIGHTERS (heavy and light) , please remember to read over the fighting
conventions and armor requirements (http://www.gulfwars.org/Fighting.html
http://user.icx.net/~roz/Rapier/gulf10/). PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR MEMBERSHIP
AND FIGHTER CARDS...NO CARDS, NO FIGHTING!!!!!! This page also lists a
description of all the fighting scenarios. Looks like there are going to be
some FUN battles ! Please also remember that we are allied with Trimaris
this year.

DON'T MISS THE PROCESSION!!!! 10:00 am on Thursday!!! The opening ceremonies
are on the field in front of the fort. It is beautiful to watch! All of the
Royalty comes in on horses, it is quite a site to see!!!

Please remember to support our Equestrians and our Hound folks. We are
brining lots of people in both these areas and these events are LOTS of fun
to watch.

The Queen of Ansteorra is sponsoring a rapier tournament at 3:30 on Thursday
afternoon. Her Majesty Emer will have the opportunity to choose fighters
from our Kingdom to participate, so please come out and support our rapier
fighters!

For the kids, there are lots of children's activities and kid fighting.

SHOPPING!!! My personal favorite!! There will be lots of wonderful Merchants
there. Here is the list and map in case you are looking for someone in
particular http://www.gulfwars.org/MerchantMap.html. Midnight Madness is
Wed. Night....darn it, I will miss that one! Guess you all will have to do
some shopping for me!!! However, I am sure that I will make up for what I
missed.

Food...many of you have asked about food...there are always some great food
merchants, some of which you see at Pennsic as well. The site also has 3
meals a day served by the camp site's staff in the Main hall. You can also
get ice from the camp as well. In the past they have offered meal plans of
different sorts, and I am sure they will be doing so this year as well. They
do a pretty yummy breakfast and offer hamburgers, hot dogs, etc for lunch
and dinner. Pretty standard summer camp food. For rules on running your own
kitchen on site, please refer to the fire safety section of the site rules:
http://www.gulfwars.org/Rules.html

We will have a large Atlantian pavilion complete with benches near the
fighting field (Thanks to His Excellency Jarl Sir Timmoch). They have
changed the rules about day shades this year (see the site rules page
http://www.gulfwars.org/Rules.html), so we won't be right on the field, but
close enough to enjoy the action and be able to hang out together in
comfort! If you planned on brining your own day shade, please let me know.
These have to approved ahead of time by the Gulf War Landcrat.

Parking...PLEASE FOLLOW THE PARKING RULES (see site rules)!!! This is the
MOST strict event I have ever seen about parking,....THEY DO TOW
PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please remember to bring any medicine that you take regularly or maybe
not-so regularly! I have seen allergic reactions of the very serious variety
(including a horrible bee sting last year)! I know that you don't want to
spend your vacation in the hospital so be sure to plan ahead!

There is lots more that I have not mentioned....but I must take this time to
say THANK YOU!!!!!! Thanks to all the people in all of the Barony's, Shires
and Cantons who have helped me to organize this trip. We are brining the
LARGEST Atlantian group ever to this war...and by a LOT! WE have almost 150
pre-reserved (including Atlantian camp, Royal, Equestrians, and Hound folks)
and I hope that we hit the 200 mark on site with people who were not able to
pre-register. I hope that you all have a GREAT time!!!!! Please travel
safely, and I cannot wait to see you all there!! As always, I am available
for your questions and comments. If there is anything that I can do to make
your war a more pleasant one, don't hesitate to ask!! SEE YOU AT THE
WAR!!!!!!
