Reminder!
This SCA night at UNC-TV is this coming Wednesday 28 March 2001.
If you have not signed up but with to join us, you may either contact me
before Wednesday night, or just show up at the UNC TV studio.
They need us there at 6pm.
Please dress appropriatetly. You are only visible from the waiste up, so
bright colorful period shirts and period hats are appropriate. (Non period
funny head gear, while amusing to some, does not reflect the image the SCA
wishes to project, so please leave it at home.)
Directions are below or on the UNC-TV web page at http://www.unctv.org
In service,

Subject: UNC-TV Festival
Greetings All!!
It is time once again for UNC-TV Festival. For those who are not familiar,
Festival is UNC-TV's annual fund raiser. UNC-TV is the PBS station which
services North Carolina. Like most PBS stations, UNC-TV has an annual fund
drive in which they request volunteers to answer the phones and take pledges
from callers.
The SCA has been volunteering at UNC-TV for several years. It is a fun
evening and provides great exposure and publicity for the SCA. It also
allows us to contribute and be a part of a community service. It is a very
social event as we only answer phones during the pledge breaks. The other
time is spent chatting, watching the show, eating (several local
establishments donate catering) and meeting the UNC-TV staff.
This year, the SCA is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28 from 6pm to 11:30pm.
Although the UNC-TV broadcast schedule is still tentative, they are
currently scheduled to be airing "Hey La Hey La The Girl Groups Are Back"
and a show of 50's Doo Wop music that evening.
I need commitment from 75 people in order to fill the studio completely with
SCAdians. Only your head and torso will be visible on TV, so wearing your
best looking "upper body" garb and hat is strongly suggested. It is
suggested to avoid wearing white as the lights in the studio give white garb
a washed out look. Also, if you have feathers, please being them so we may
tape them to the pens which UNC provides.
There are also two unofficial competitions to be held that evening. Lady
Elspeth Macalpin will be sponsoring a head wear competition. I will also be
providing two new comers on site on board reservations for an event in the
Barony of Windmasters' Hill to the canton which covers the most man hours.
