Greetings all,
A few other tidbits of news from Gulf Wars...
Lord Lyon from Marinus was in the finals of the Cyrano de Bergerac rapier
tourney on Tuesday. You had to be able to respond in rhyming
lines while you fought (or else you couldn't attack) thus demonstrating
wit and quick thinking along with skill at arms.
There was a Legion of the Bear (5 man melee) tourney on Wed for
the armored folks. HRM Anton and his team won that tourney, I
believe against another Atlantian team in the finals.
Thursday also saw Lord Gregor dow MacGregor, Provost win the Ansteorran
rapier tourney against a field of 80? fighters. He faced a fellow Atlantian
in the finals. Both were undefeated to that point.
A Ladies of the Rose rapier tourney was also held Friday morning. There
were just over 100 entrants (104?) in a single elim tourney. Lord Gregor
won this as well, facing Count Ragnar in the finals. These acts are
what prompted the Shark's Tooth award for Gregor at court.
I think I heard that 3 of the last six folks in the armored Ladies of the Rose
tourney were Atlantians. Sir Duncan being one of the finalists.
Atlantia had 2 spots in the Rapier Champions war point. Lord Gregor and
myself won our bouts, giving Trimaris 2 of it's only 5 wins for that part
of the rapier war point.
And overheard from a friend on the Ansteorran side about the first rapier field
battle (for part of a war point). "We had a goon squad of some of our
best White Scarfs and Knights that were charging down our right flank.
They plowed through the first row of the Trimarans and then hit this group
of 5 Atlantians. The Atlantian fighters stopped them like a brick wall".
Keep in mind, this wasn't Master Alan, Mistress Isobel, Lord Gregor or
myself, this was 5 of our mid and lower rank fighters. Nice job guys!
All in all, I think Atlantia shone on the various fields of combat.
