Among many others, I would say that one of the best people in the known world to talk to about period pavilions is Stephen Bloch, aka mar-Joshua ibn-Eleazar ha-Shalib in the SCA. His sca tent building website starts at http://www.adelphi.edu/~sbloch/sca/tents/ and just branches off from there with all sorts of period renderings of pavilions as well as links to plans and articles from tent builders all over the known world. You can get lost in his research and it is easy to e-mail him from his address posted on the website. Good luck and have fun!

Greetings unto the gentle populace of fair Atlantia!
I am trying to find resources on period tents. If anyone knows of good sources (documentable), especially pertaining to pre 12th century or Spain (northern, Christian areas), I would be grateful for the information.
