Greetings!
We hope this missive finds you all well. The reason we are writing is to
inform you (if you haven't heard already) of the availability of "In Service
to the Dream", the first feature-length documentary on the SCA created by
long-standing SCA members. This is a 2 hour movie that is a comprehensive
look at life in the society, as well as an examination of why people play
and what they get out of it. We think it makes a wonderful tool for
explaining your favorite past-time to others, as well as an excellent way to
educate and encourage newcomers.
The film was shot over a 10-month period, completed over a 2-year period and
used all digital technology. Although primarily shot in Caid, the film is
not a Caid propaganda film, but rather a "sympathetic and reverential
documentary" (to quote a film critic who reviewed the film) that examines
the entirety of the society.
Here is what others are saying about "In Service to the Dream":
"This is the best film on the SCA that I have ever seen" - Mistress Eilis
O'Boirne (Society Seneschal)
"I could show this film to people at work and not feel that I had to explain
or apologize for it" - Duke Frederick of Holland (attendee of the
first-ever
SCA event)
"It's made me very excited about becoming a part of the SCA in America." -
Lord Thorgrimr Olafsson (Kingdom of Drachenwald)
"A thoughtful and engaging "behind the thrones" look at the reality of our
dream and one of the best promotional tools your demo dollar can buy... you
guys did a hell of a job!" - Roland O'Rourke (Kingdom of The Outlands)
"First, may we say that after viewing "In Service To The Dream", we are VERY
impressed. The film is well done, and should be required viewing for all
SCA Newcomers, and most SCA veterans. Our heartiest congratulations. You
captured the essence of the SCA." - Domhnall mac Pharlain (Kingdom of Caid)
