I published an English edition of the trial of the Templars in Cyprus with
Brill (Leiden) about 3 years ago. It was very long (ca. 550 pages), and very
expensive (ca. $160.00 US). I have been discussing the desirability of
bringing out a shorter edition which would omit all the enormously
repetitive testimony, while leaving in all the fascinating testimony of both
Templars, the local nobility, and local clergy. I would increase the length
of the introduction to make it more complete for university students or
non-specialists, and cut out the philological notes and those related to the
Vatican Archives manuscripts. I would also add some more general material on
the Templars to make the testimony more understandable to ordinary persons
or students. It would sell for about $30.00 U.S. in soft cover.
I need to know if any of you think that you, your university book store,
or those you know might buy it. They will bring it out if they can
anticipate sales of about 800, otherwise it languishes on the library
shelves.
