IMHO: Lawyers are really the only danger to Society, not the individuals
who have had their arms registered. Remember we belong to a Society
for Creative Worry Warts, Paranoid and the Delusional! <grin> No
offense, we know who you are and we are coming to get you.
Seriously now, why not take this approach. Look at the Kingdom of
Meridies Armorial at http://newmarch.org/armorial This is a way
to portray the arms of your Kingdom in what can be considered a very
period collection of Arms. A single herald, collected the contributions
by permission and put them in an electronic format. (Me in this
case.) The process could be streamlined if the Kingdom Submission
forms were modified to create a signature space for "Release of copyright
for the exclusive purpose of educational medium in the SCA only by
reproducing the registered graphic in an electronic format for use
on the Internet." It would be possible then for a new or current
heraldic office of registry to be responsible for taking the FINAL
Laurel approved device and publishing it.
I believe this approach would be very beneficial to the SCA and the
heraldic community.
