I wouldn't be so sure about that....some years ago, my ex-husband submitted
his device...a pegasus courant contournez on a gyronny of 8, counterchanged
azure and argent.  When the registration came back, it had been changed to a
winged BULL.  The blazon clearly said pegasus, the drawing was clearly of a
winged horse, but someone decided it looked more like a bull...so that was
what laurel registered.  It took him almost two years to get it fixed.
