Cross-post from The Armour Archive:
=================================
I wrote the seller a polite note letting him know of the situation. Here is
what I wrote:
Hey I noticed you ended this auction. I was wondering why. It seems from
your description that you don't know what exactly it is you're selling. It's
sport armor for the SCA. How did you obtain it that you don't know what it
is? I'm not making any accusations, I realise that there are many legitimate
ways (storage auction, yard sales, pawn shops, my money's on storage
auction) that you could obtain it. That sort of thing is MANY time more
valuable to the original owner usually than it is to anyone else because the
owner usually tinkers with his armor until it fits right and protects in all
the places they tend to get hit so you don't tend to see a whole lot of used
armor on eBay. At any rate, please write me back. I hope that other people
with less tact haven't caused you too much grief.

Here is his response:
got it from a picker (people who buy at yard sales, and estates or storage)
i had no idea what it was but have heard from a ton of people in your group.
i am contacting a member to whom they believe this belongs, and it will be
returned if that is the case.
a few members certainly need a class in diplomacy, but i guess i can relate.

thank you for your help
