Charles,
Actually these are tents not white poly tarps that is why there is a price
difference. I thought the line Tents for sale made that clear. If I had
meant tarps I would have written tarps.
They have a dagged rain flap edges and are designed to have a peaked roof
and gabled ends unlike your $90 heavy-duty white tarps, UV treated, with
rope-reinforced hems and aluminium grommets every 18", 3 mil, half again
as thick as the common blue poly tarps.
I like the look of a pavillion with dagged edges and a peaked roof, double
center pole. I thought someone else might want a large tent which is why I
bought several extra. If you have found something you like better at a
better price then by all means run with it.
These tents came from Mesers Tents in Richmond, who rented them as
party tents, they are designed to be used with large metal frames not
exactly
handy for SCA use so we didn't purchase any frame work with them which is
why they are sold as tops, no poles, no ropes. This is also why they are
priced so reasonably, with the metal frames they would have been closer to
$6500. You can get a idea of what the value is by visiting
http://www.academytent.com/acad/prod.html
You can also find pictures of the type of tents I am selling on this page as
they are academy tents.
If you have priced large tents in poly or in canvas you will find that
they run into the thousands of dollars and the frame is more expensive than
the top. I don't believe I am charging too much for the tents I choose to sell
and if I am then no one will buy them.
I wish I had more money to have spent. I spent way to much as is to try
and help other people get some decent tents for their camps. I am not trying
to make a profit here (may the Farengi Gods have mercy on me). Most
people would love to have a periodesque pavillion that is leak proof.
Your message seems to be slightly offensive and confrontational, perhaps
you didn't mean it that way but the tone does come across that way. I
certainly am not trying to get over on anyone which is what you seem to
have implied in your last statement. Perhaps you didn't re-read it but it
sounds confrontational and I frankly don't appreciate it. If someone
wants a tent they can contact me if they don't then they won't.
If your intent was to be offensive then it has succeeded. I would
appreciate your responding publicly (as your original message was) to let me
know one way or another so we may clear this matter up.
