Sad greetings all,
I hate to be the spreader of bad news, but... This came to me in a round
about way from the SCA Chirurgeon's list. Evidently 2 gentles attending
Estrella War passed away this last weekend, after putting a propane
heater inside their tent in an effort to keep warm.
While I know that we tend not to have camping events when the temperatures
get that low, it is still a possibility. I'd hate for one of us to make the
same fatal mistake.
Sadly,

>CARBON MONOXIDE SUSPECTED IN 2 DEATHS
>
> Two campers died Saturday, the victims of possible carbon-
>monoxide poisoning, after they were found in full cardiac arrest
>inside their tent in the southeast Valley.
> The unidentified pair, a 35-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman,
>were pronounced dead at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, said Jeff
>Stocker, a spokesman for Rural/Metro Corp.
> The victims were among a group of campers attending an event at
>Schnepf Farms, near Rittenhouse and Combs roads, a popular
>entertainment and concert site, Stocker said. Authorities were called
>after a friend checked the tent to find out why they hadn't gotten
>up.
> Stocker said a propane heater was found inside the tent. The Pinal
>County Sheriff's Office was investigating whether the deaths may be
>linked to the heater.
> The bodies were taken to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's
>Office, where autopsies were pending.
