Admin: The Atlantia List is moving...

Hi folks,

You're friendly neighborhood listkeeper here...

The Merry Rose will be moving to the kingdom mail
servers very soon now.  This will allow us to several
interesting things including real-time archiving
(with indexes by Date, Subject, Author and Thread) and
a better user defined subscription mechanism.  Also,
hopefully it will finally fix the problem several
people have seen recently with empty messages or
not receiving any messages at all.

So, what do you have to do?  Well, if you send all
your posts to the list to the atlantia at atlantia.sca.org
address, you don't have to do anything at all.  If
you send them to the atlantia at csc.ncsu.edu address,
you will need to change that to the atlantia at atlantia.sca.org
address.  The csc.ncsu.edu address will be going away,
probably by the end of the month.

I want to take a moment and thank the people at NCSU
for hosting our mailing list since April 1996.

and relize that when it says August it means April. :-)
They rescued us when the servers at netcom.com weren't
processing list mail until hours, sometimes days later.
They gave us stability when we needed it and did it
all for nothing.  They deserve our greatest thanks and vivats!
This move is most definitely not a reflection upon their
service, but rather just a consolidation.  From the
bottom of my heart, thanks!

If you have any more questions about the move, feel free
to ask me by e-mailing kendrick at wayfarer.org.  I hope
to have the web page and FAQ updated by this weekend
(although that might have to be put off until next week
as I'm filming an audition tape for Junkyard Wars this
weekend. :-).  Overall, I think people will find personal
settings easier to control now.  All configuration is
done using a web page.  Since almost everybody (99.9%)
has web access now (unlike when we started the list),
I finally decided this would be ok.  If you don't have
web access, and can only control your subscription using
e-mail, let me know and I'll show you how it's done.
Otherwise, sit back, and enjoy.  I'm betting most people
don't even notice the move. <finger's crossed> :-)
