On behalf of L'Academie Atlantienne de la Danse, I would like to thank all
of the students who took one or more of the four dance classes we offered at
last weekend's University in Storvik. Because of your interest, our
instructors had the pleasure of teaching before a combined attendance well
in excess of 100 students! Plans are currently afoot <grin> for a dance
track to be offered at "June-iversity" in Bordervale Keep...standby for more
info.
As a reminder, the Academie will be sponsoring it's first-ever event within
a fortnight. The Atlantian Dance Symposium (aka "Nothing But Dance") will
be held on Saturday, February 17th, hosted by the Shire of Isenfir
(Charlottesville, VA). This event will feature 15 hours of classroom
instruction during the day (including instructors from FOUR Kingdoms), and a
no-holds-barred blow-out all-night-long Ball (with live musicians) that
evening! If you've been to events in the past which had promised dancing
but which failed to deliver, then this event is one you'll not want to miss.
We have scheduled NO court, NO tourney, and NO feast, and we own the site
until well into Sunday, so we'll be dancing until the last Lord and Lady are
standing! For more info consult the current =Acorn= or check our online
event flyer at http://scs.student.virginia.edu/~isenfir/nothingbutdance/
We will be having a business meeting at 10am on Symposium Saturday which is
open to everyone! We will briefly discuss what weve accomplished, where
were heading, and what we can do better to help bring Atlantia to her feet.
This is also an opportunity for Academie members from all over Atlantia to
place faces to names, and as an added incentive, we will be raffling off
door prizes! Please join us.
The Academie is open to anyone who practices, teaches, or who is otherwise
interested in the art, music, history, reconstruction, or performance or
theory of period dancing styles. In short, the Academie is for anyone with
an interest in period dance, regardless of talent or skill. To learn more
about us, please visit our website, which contains information about our
charter, membership, mailing list and activities, how to join, and our
quarterly newsletter =The Muse=. That address is
