Looking back at the records carefuly kept by our good Irish monks, the day of the 64 challenge ended in a three way tie between Marinus, Tyr ri don, and Marinus. Marinus doth still have control over the bridges between Tir ry Don and Marinus. I know it is difficult in this cold weather for calculations for my Norse brothers as they are unable to remove their shoes for counting greater then 10.

However, if a challenge is sent to my Noble Baron, I would take it up.

If memory serves, we are already in possession of the King's Highway to the sea and are due tribute for its use by our neighbors.  I do not recall seeing any nautical Stuff around here for a while.  Could the tribute by in arrears?  There is also a cup, rightfully ours, languishing in Marinusian Hands.  Just a thought from the wings.  Werhener

Let me assure you, good Skraeling, that the negotiation tables in these lands are masterfully held and used. As my former enemies, and now close counsels the Mongols will attest to, we here in my lands drive very hard negotiations. Coming here to find land may grant you as much as 6 feet by 4 feet by 6 feet may allow.  
  
  
To my good neighbors in the Windy lands to the south, I would caution you against the tongue from the east. We have ever held brotherhood and camaraderie, and never have we here been of a mind to take from you what is yours to honorably shepherd. In fact, perhaps together we find common cause against those who would squat as mere homesteaders upon land not rightfully theirs? To all good gentles greatings

The Irish once again have saved civilization, specifcally to the South of Marinus. After my Brother Hrothgar let it be know that land transactions could be acomplished through the gentle celtic art of "bargening", myself and some other from the center and north of the kingdom came down for a session of "mediation".  

The large group of gentles in shiney armor that came to discuss and give special love to we coastal sailor types was led by my Brother Finn. A mighty "bargener" he turned out to be. Brother Hrothgar was unable to attend as his steed had througn a shoe, and he could not find a smithy to reshoe the steed. Alas, for Hrothgar is a master of "gentle persuasion". We Irish and our friends turned out to be the better bargeners that day. (After all we had a Lawyer on our side.) As such, we of Marinus have some lovely pasture land to the south of us to graze our cattle. (No sheep, there are still Norsemen about.)

Strangly, there were others there that could have helped with the "land negotiations" on the side of the Windy Feline. They were off to the side, apparently practicing their culinary skills. At least ten were taking metal skewers and practicing sticking them into imagenary fowls in the air! Then they turned on each other, placeing strainers for noodles upon their faces, and attempted to skewer each other. There must shurley be a famine in the Southlands if cannibalism is being pursued. Needless to say that if these ten cooks had picked up helm and spear, the "negotiations." may have been differant indeed.

Now we here in Marinus are open to negotiations. If Hrothgar and Finn were to travel north to open discusions on Marinuse's new pasture lands, they are welcome. Also I hear there are lovely lands to the west of us along the James River. Perhaps both Baronies could get together to acquire some lovely waterfront property. There is a Norse Baron about there that we could all give some "special bargening".
