[MR] Directions to Pennsic from DC/Balt

After being asked by a few folks to provide other directions, I have
put together a larger list of possible ways to get to Pennsic from
the Baltimore-Washington area. I have traveled many of these ways
myself, others were recommended by friends.

There is one central point through which all sane directions from
here to Pennsic seem to pass: the town of Hancock MD (where Maryland
is only a mile and a half wide). So my directions are in two parts:
first, getting from here to Hancock, and then getting from Hancock to
Pennsic.

For the first part I have chosen 10 different starting points; you
may live along one of the described routes, or if you live further
away you may have to get to a starting point (which should be easy).

NOTE 1: This is not an utterly complete list, and you may prefer to
follow a route from a different starting point, or follow a totally
different route.

NOTE 2: Pennsylvania is changing its exit numbers as well as going
through the usual summer bouts of road destruction. I have done some
research into these as well and will post the relevant results in a
separate note.

Getting to Hancock MD
=====================

BALTIMORE: I-695 Beltway to I-70 west (90 miles) to Hancock.

BWI: MD 100 west (8 mi) to US 29 north (3 mi) to I-70 west (86 mi)
   to Hancock.

BOWIE: MD 197 north (7 mi) to BW Pkwy north (5 mi) to Ft Meade.

FT MEADE: MD 32 west (23 mi) to I-70 west (79 mi) to Hancock.

ARLINGTON: I-66 west or GW Pkwy north to I-495 north across Legion
   Bridge, exit 38 to I-270 north to Bethesda/Rockville...

BETHESDA/ROCKVILLE: I-270 north (32 mi) to I-70 west (52 mi) to
   Hancock.

LEESBURG: US 15 north to Frederick MD, exit 12 to I-70 west (52 mi)
   to Hancock.

LEESBURG ALTERNATE: VA 7 west to I-81 at Winchester...

DULLES AIRPORT: VA 28 south to US 50 west to I-81 at Winchester...

MANASSAS: I-66 west (47 mi) to I-81 north (10 mi) to Winchester...

WINCHESTER: I-81 north (about 40 mi) to Hagerstown MD, exit 3 onto
   I-70 west (25 mi) to Hancock.

WINCHESTER ALTERNATE: Take exit 310 on I-81 to VA 37 north; or take
   exit 317 on I-81, turn left on US 11 south for 3 blocks and get on
   VA 37 south. Either way, exit onto US 522 north, and follow it all
   the way (about 42 mi) to Hancock.
