[MR] Golf tube APD and length of golftube arrows

Ld Tessa just sent me a post saying that both my ribbed ring golf tubes and
her reinforced gt APDs are now also approved for the fiberglass shafts....so
those of you who wanted to know know now!

Also we got clarified a problem I discovered about the length of GT
arrows....somehow a 28 inch maximum lenght had worked its way into the
rules, probably to be consistent with shafted arrows...perhaps just a
misplacement in a cut and past update....

Anyway, since Atlantia had never followed (or even known we had) such a
rule, nor had any of the other GT kingdoms, we now have it clarified.

On page 10 in the missile combat rules. under golf tube construction, it
says:

"Maximium allowable arrow draw length(bottom of the nock slot to just behind
the blunt) is 28 inches."

That has been changed to this:

"Maximium allowable arrow draw length(bottom of the nock slot to just behind
the blunt) is 33 inches."

This should remove any problems some of you bound for Pennsic with your old
tube arrows might have encountered. If anyone gives you a problem in
inspections of your long tubes, then politely inform them it was changed as
of todays date. If there continues to be a problem please refer them to our
kingdom marshal or Tessa or the SAM...(sorry I can't make Pennsic this year)

I have also requested a reduction in required padding on the GT arrows to a
minimum of 1/2 inch close cell foam.....I did bruising tests (using my own
poor body) with this construction, the baldars, and thistle missiles, and
found even with the reduced padding the actual bruising is less with the GT
arrows than the other shafted types...... this may improve acknowledgement
problems with the GT arrows, especially in scenarios where the shafted types
are also in use....the difference in hit makes fighters unsure if they were
hit by an arrow when compared to the hit of the shafted
types......Unofficially I have heard this is OK....I will continue to persue
an official announcement. I have a few experimental golf tube arrows that I
will try to bring to Sacred Stones Birthday if I can possibly make it and to
Golden Moon as well for folks to try.

I may have a source for the white golf tubes in Canada.....maybe even in 6
foot lengths for javlins, I am still working to see if the company will sell
to people in small lots, or if they have a retailer who will....otherwise it
will take a bit of money to get a huge lot and try to resell them to people
who need them.

If you have been getting golftubes from AJ Leisure Products, be warned that
they went bankrupt a few months ago and a porn site comes up if you try to
access their old web page...not a good thing if you have kids in the room!!!

On a personal note, I keep getting emails, mostly from my old heavy fighter
friends saying they thought I had quit playing. Rumors of my demise were
rumors.....I have had some serious health issues in the past few years which
have limited my participation and travel, and my Lady had a difficult
pregnancy with our now 1 year old....hopefully we can be a bit more visible
in the near future. I have been around, you just haven't seen me unless you
have looked on the rapier field or the archery range, and since Ldy Johanna
and I have been trying to bring more of our area students into the SCA, we
have been rather tied up with local and household things. She usually
feastocrats for 15 or so students we bring for events out of our household
kitchen, so her activites have been less visible as well. We are around,
just lower profile, but a big thank you to all the old friends that suddenly
noticed that I am still alive! LOL
