So... Did they tie rubber beaks to them or not?

More Pelicans are -always- better for the Kingdom -I- think.
I can't match their boundless energy myself.

My late mother might have seriously disagreed with this of course.

On her honeymoon, while walking over a Florida beach together
with the step-dad, his sister and brother-in-law, one flew over 
and barfed a full quart of half digested fish on her from head 
to toes. Considering future events it was probably an omen.

My aunt, of course, just had to make her a big black Pelican
applique on a white beach towel to commemorate the occaision.
Mom never really liked her after that. But the beach towel
did stick around for many years like an unlucky token. Every
time Mom found it she bitched about Aunt Louise's lousy sense 
of humor. For the next forty years actually.

My personal experience with Pelicans is one is likely to get 
snapped attempting to bait any hook near them. But they are rather
neat to admire from a distance. Especially the great big ones. 
All that undecipherable clacking can drive one nuts though.
And they are very jealous of their territories. Feed one just once
on a dock and it's their territory ever after. So is every fish
landed there thereafter in their opinion by their newly adopted
protegees. Probably the original landlords.
