Imagine my surprise to see this old thread resurrected!  Magnus, you must be

Well said!  If an ad brought in a thousand new members with that value
system, it would be great news IMHO.  (A thousand loyal members of any kind
would suit me.)  Just to be clear, I would never suggest that Horde members
don't serve their local kingdoms heroically; many do.  But, recruiting ads
are a gamble precisely because any wave of newcomers will have its own
character and momentum.  The values of the newcomers will affect the
character of the group for years to come.

Speaking of TV coverage, I understand the SCA had a long feature on the CBS
Sunday Morning show yesterday.  Did anybody catch it?
