Greetings unto the populace of Atlantia from your Kingdom Seneschal, Master Corwyn Sinister.
As some of you are aware, His Grace Anton was unable to attend Coronation. For those who do not know, Corpora VI.a.1.c.(2) "The royal pair must attend their Coronation or Investiture. They must preside after it, at the next Royal Lists, at the Coronation or Investiture of their successors, and at such other events as may be dictated by the laws and customs of their realm for the duration of their reign."
I requested and was given a ruling from the Society Seneschal, Mistress Eilis O'boirne. She referred to the ruling of the Board meeting of July 1999 for the case of Stephen and Niobe:
"Policy Ruling: Ms. Forgue was asked by the seneschal of Atlantia to make a formal ruling on whether King Stephans being posted out of Atlantia for military service would affect his and Niobes reign. Her ruling was that, if Stephan is able to attend his successors Coronation, his reign would be considered complete. If he is not able to attend the Coronation, his reign would not be considered complete. Either way, since Atlantian law permits a consort to continue as sole ruler, Niobes reign would be complete. This decision was upheld by the Board."
Her response in this case? "In the present case, Anton's reign can not be considered complete -- an automobile breakdown is not the sort of "act of God" which would lead to allowances being made. However, Emer's reign is complete and she can be declared a Countess; Havordth and Mary-Grace were properly crowned and are now King and Queen of Atlantia."
Let me be VERY Clear -- the reign has NOT been invalidated. All awards given by TRM Anton and Emer still stand, including those given by the King alone. However, Anton will not be able to accrue any benefits (like a change in rank) from this reign. Of course, as His Grace would have received no additional title ...
Those who have ANY questions, please contact me. I will be glad to answer them, and I'd rather give you a clarification or additional answer than have you need to create your own clarifications.
Long live their Majesties Havordth and Mary-Grace and Countess Emer, Atlantia!
