At one one Collegium I attended, our instuctor showed us the joys of "Fabric
Medium". It is an additive you can mix in with reguar acryllic paint on a
1:1 ratio. This makes the acryllic paint less likely to crack and flake off
the fabric, and it greatly reduces the price of fabric paint. I used this
method to create slippers for an Italian Ren dress, using "ballet" type
slippers with a mild sheen to them, and the painted shoes looked like
leather when they dried! (unexpected bonus!!)
