[MR] Two Lists or not Two lists

I agree with Sveva.

For those of you who were not here 5 years ago the Merry Rose was a much
more rauchous list then.

Then joking and chatter got waaay out of hand just before an event ( Emerald
Joust I think) and it finally was decided that an "all fun list" would be
created to move the "fun" people off the MR and leave it for the more
"serious and appropriate" stuff.

Well the fun list (the Red Dragon I think) lasted about 1 month.  The fact
is that most people like a mixture.

Over the past 6+ years that I have been on this list, I have seen this
arguement about once a year.  There should be room on a general topic list
like the MR, for everything.  The answer is not to split the list into
smaller and smaller interests because that just kills the general interest
lists. Any group the size of Atlantia is going to be a diverse group.  The
more divirse our group is, the more the need for the place to discuss what
we have in common.

The answer is for people to get along.   The people who don't like jokes and
off topics have to be more tolerent for the sake of the group AND for the
people who like jokes and off topics have to be more careful what they post.
