If you look in our Great Book of Law (which I *still* call the "Red Tape",
but I'm old fashioned that way), you'll find at the end...
15.2 Garb Restrictions
With the exceptions of the traditional symbols of the Peerages, and the
requirements for pre-17th century style, there are no restrictions of any
kind concerning garb in the Kingdom of Atlantia.
What this means is that there is no such thing as an "AOA circlet", (i.e.
you can wear what you want). The restrictions are the regalia of the
our Crowns and landed Baronage (using the Kingdom or Baronial arms)
and that of the various peerages (coronets, white belt & gold chain,
laurel wreaths, pelicans in piety).
It is *custom* for most (but not all) squires to wear red belts, proteges
to wear yellow and apprentices to wear green, but not law by any means.
What does this mean? You can wear a red belt. Most folks will assume
you're a squire of some sort, but then again, there are households here
whose squires wear belts of a different color.
