Greetings, especially to those inthe D.C. Metro area, from Sorcha de Glys,
Demo Coordinator for the Barony of Ponte Alto!

On April 21st, there will be a medieval faire on the Campus of
Georgetown Universtiy. We have been invited to join them and give a
fighting/SCA demo. This will be an excellent opportunity to support their
newly-formed Medieval Club as well as recruit new members. I understand
that this conflicts with Lochmere's "Night on the Piazza" and I by no means
want to detract from that wonderful event. If you are not attending
Lochmere's event and would like to lend a hand, please contact me at (703)
264-0072 or sorchadeglys at att.net. Thank you for your support.

For more information, here is the request I received...

"My name is Amelia Borrego. I'm a student at Georgetown University, and
President of the newly formed Medieval Club on campus. I'm writing because
the club, in cooperation with our Medieval Studies Department, is hosting a
small "Medieval Day" on campus in late April. We're planning lots of
different events to appeal to a campus audience, and one thing we were
hoping to host was a fighting demonstration."

and

"We've got tons of volunteers coming out on April 21, in the afternoon, to
sort of make a mini-medieval fair on campus. So far, we've got a celtic
band, a human chess game, some wandering actors, palm reading, jugglers
(students), and a falconer - also a student. We're hoping to also have face
paint (unauthentic, but fun), a celebration of Shakespeare's birthday (the
22nd), a belly dancer (she's unconfirmed), and food - probably just soda and
cupcakes, the way our budget is looking. However, if your group has some
other special talents, we'd love to show them off as well. The fighting is,
of course, our first choice (people just love violence), but if you have
crafts, musicians (our band can't play the whole time), or better yet -
people who can teach court dancing... We're open to ideas.

'Let me know what you're thinking - and if you need equipment by way of
tables, chairs, and the like. If you have banners, etc. we can put those
up, display things, whatever. Pavillions are nice, but we'd have to clear
it with the grounds crew because there is a sprinkler system and they don't
allow stakes in the ground."
