Sending info to Seneschals was :[MR] two lists - sheesh!

As Rencester's Seneschal I can only speak for myself but I believe other
seneschals will concur that sending announcements to the seneschal only
would be a Bad Idea (tm). While I always do my best to disseminate
information I am only one poor person and like most other seneschals have
other things that occasionally take up my time and attention (for instance
being a graduating senior and the consequential responsibilities). Often
people have urgent messages and to send them only to me would mean that if
I don't have time to deal with my e-mail for any length of time the whole
group would miss out- and I think we all agree that that would suck.
Yours-

Subject: [MR] two lists - sheesh!
I make a suggestion about having two lists and a whole
tizzy breaks out in my inbox with a more minor tizzy
breaking out on the Merry Rose.
Could we lighten up a little? What started everything
getting so serious these days?
As I predicted, my one suggestion created an inbox
full of folks who agree as I do (that occasional fun
should be allowed on group lists) and others disagree
with me with the logic that says "I'm on too many
lists already!!!"
Does anyone else see a problem with this logic? I
can't create a new list because you're on <insert some
large number here> of lists?
I'm sure I'll fill my inbox again with how rude I am
but trust me, if I wanted to create another list, how
many you're on already would not concern me. Being on
a list is important but still a privelege and not a
requirement since lists are unofficial. Useful yes,
but not required. And remember, they are a privelege
that can be lost. (Sort of like a modern driver's
liscense.)
If you volunteered to be on <insert number of lists>
that was your choice. Having said this, I do think
that using the seneschal's list for official
announcements IS the better way to go. They are,
after all the official representative of the SCA for
their group.
One interesting point was brought up about how much
work it is to monitor a list. A chat list can be a
lot of work depending on the group but an
announcements only list aren't so bad. It has peaks
that come and go but the overall traffic is very
quiet. (And yes I'm speaking from experience.)

P.S. Sir Janos... any ruling on whether that skunk
thing lives on or not? We NEVER have enough to help
encourage the children in SCA. <Evil Grin>
