<p>Did anyone read this policy statement carefully? It is basically
a return to where we were four years ago. There is no stated
requirement that a parent be present in the range area with their
youngsters. The current policy statement, while flawed in that it
leaves out the waiver, at least makes it clear that parents must
be in the range area with their children. Maybe that wasn't the
intent of whoever wrote the proposed rule, but it certainly leaves
the question open to argumentation.<br>

<p>If we follow this new policy as stated below, parents can again
dump their children on the archery range and go off to do "more
important things". We are not baby sitters! We cannot discipline a
youngster that is acting up. If we send them off the range area,
we are potentially liable if they get into trouble wandering
around. In addition, not having a parent present opens us to
charges if a child falsely complains that a marshal abused them in
some way.</p>
<p>I enjoy working with children, but if the rules are changed to
not require a parental presence, I will not marshal when children
are present.<br>
</p>
<p>Please use all your influence to have this policy statement more
clearly worded.</p>

events and activities in which youth participate in any
way, participating
minors must either have a parent or legal guardian
present at the
event/activity,</font></span></i><i><span
style="font-size:10pt;font-family:arial"> or an adult
present
in possession of a properly executed “Medical
Authorization Form for Minors.”
This Medical Authorization Form must designate an adult
present at the
event or activity as able to authorize medical treatment
in the case of
emergency (a form of temporary guardianship). </span></i><span
