Good evening my Brothers and Sisters of the Bow. This is about the time of<br>
year that I start my planning for next year's SSB shoot at Pennsic. But,<br>
before I do this year, I wanted to have a discussion with everyone to gauge<br>
the interest in the shoot and your willingness to still support the shoot. I<br>
first just also want to say that I completely understand it is everyone's<br>
vacation, to include my own and we all have tons of other commitments, I<br>
understand that.<br>

We were asked once again by the East to conduct the shoot next year. My<br>
concern is that usually during these discussion I get almost 100% resounding<br>
"yes, let's do it, I want to help", but when it comes to the shoot I'm<br>
seeing the participation decline. Even for the Friday night setup, there<br>
were only 6 of us there. So I will ask again, what are your thoughts for<br>
doing this again next year? Who is in, who is willing to make a station or<br>
two and help? I was very clear to the East that if I don't get the numbers<br>
we need, I will not conduct the shoot and burn out the few of us that are<br>
there year after year, I just won't do that.<br>

So if we are going to run the shoot again next year, this is what we will<br>
need:<br>

1. Roughly 30 marshals, I need enough to run the 13 -14 stations for<br>
one 3-4 hour shift and then switch so they can go shoot and the replacement<br>
marshals take their place. Last year this was the plan and we had many<br>
stations that were out the whole day long because their replacements either<br>
never came back or simply left the range.<br>

2. I would like someone to lead the scheduling of our volunteer<br>
marshals for time slots and assignments, I as MIC just have too much on my<br>
plate during the day to manage it all..<br>

3. We will need 3-4 scorekeepers to assist Lady Aemilia at the<br>
check-in table<br>
<br>
4. We will need 13-14 target stations, a few of us last year made 3-4<br>
and one volunteer actually made 5 stations themselves<br>

<br>
The theme they asked us to work with is "medieval creatures / macabre" which<br>
lends itself to many cool targets.<br>
<br>

So please take some time and think about this. In mid-December if we choose<br>
to move forward, I will start preparing the lists to coordinate the shoot,<br>
or tell the East that we will not conduct the shoot. I can't think of not<br>
doing it but won't run our faithful into the ground anylonger.<br>

Of course, you are what makes this shoot what it has been and is! I could<br>
never have pulled this off by myself.<br>
