On this day in 1346, Edward III of England won a decisive battle against a much larger French force at the Battle of Crecy. This battle was noted for the use of an archery-heavy army fighting on foot, rather than relying chiefly upon heavily armored knights on horseback: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cr%C3%A9cy" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Crécy</a> . Edward had already proven these tactics against my fellow Scots, and the use of massive archery barrages were to be the key tactic of the English for the next 200 or so years.<br>
