The book reasons that the reason for the thickness was in part due to the nature of the wood the shafts were made out of and in part due to the draw weight of the bow and part due to the weight of the point on the shaft. Thus, considering crossbows were of signicantly higher draw weights it is not surprising that the bolt diameter would be 3/4 inch or larger.</span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:blue'>Just my readings....................</span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:blue'>cog</span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p></div><blockquote style='margin-top:5.0pt;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:5.0pt'><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>-----Original Message-----<br><b>From:</b> <a href="mailto:archers-bounces@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org">archers-bounces@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org</a> [<a href="mailto:archers-bounces@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org">mailto:archers-bounces@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org</a>] <b>On Behalf Of </b>Groff, Garth (ggg9y)<br><b>Sent:</b> Monday, April 01, 2013 2:13 PM<br><b>To:</b> <a href="mailto:archers@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org">archers@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org</a><br><b>Subject:</b> [Archers] REALLY BIG X-bow Bolt</span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal>Noble friends of the Bow,<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>While rambling through the web site of the Federazione Balestrieri Sammarinesi, I came upon this photo and was amazed at the size of the bolt: <a href="http://www.federazionebalestrieri.sm/photo/today">http://www.federazionebalestrieri.sm/photo/today</a> .
