I would recommend posting your question in the "Archery: historical replication" or "Archery - primitive bows" forum pages at paleoplanet.net. There are several European countries represented among the members who post there, and likely someone may already have the translation you're looking for. Please do share when you find it!

I am trying to document a wooden self bow in the 6 ft range based on Nydam
and Hedeby for kingdom arts and sciences.

There is a new(1999) document in german and translated to english "Bows and
arrows from Hedeby" and I can get the words but not the pictures.

Might anyone have that or similar info on nydam.

I am looking to create a period war/hunting bow for a mid 600s anglian. My
assumption therefore is that nydam - 3-400's and hedeby 8-900s will
hopefully meet in the middle with an oval cross section self bow with outer
rings down range. I can get 6ft from hedebby and nydam so that sounds good.

As far as I know, there is no documentation of ornamentation but clearly
hedeby has a side nock top and most have the lower string tied in place
somehow.

These are my final peices and those I am looking to nail down this weekend,
so any help is appreciated.

Thanks
