Today, it was
so easy that I decided I would once again try to get to full draw with
the horsebow. It worked, I can get to full draw. The interesting thing
about this is that I utilize a learning technique that works quite well.
The second I learn a new physical skill I stop and give it a couple of
days or more rest. When I try it again I seem to have it down. Even
though I haven't practiced it. It actually works better than if I had
practiced it every day for the same period. When I teach archery, I
often use the same method. Teach a bit then let them play and don't
think about it. Next time they pick up their bow, they have it.

- Colum
On 09/22/12, archers-request@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org wrote:

Send Archers mailing list submissions to
archers@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org

To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit
http://seahorse.atlantia.sca.org/listinfo.cgi/archers-atlantia.sca.org

or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to
archers-request@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org

You can reach the person managing the list at
archers-owner@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org

When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific
than "Re: Contents of Archers digest..."

Today's Topics:

1. I have included that post again below, for anyone
who may have missed it the first time, and have some additional information,
and a request. The theme of the Tournament will be Russian Fairy Tales and
Legends, such as The Frog Princess, The Firebird, Baba Yaga, etc. Our space
is somewhat limited, but we hope to have at least six different shoots for
the teams. As a heads-up to the crossbow users, one of the shoots will
require everyone to shoot an arrow from a handbow. We have several loaner
bows for anyone who may need to borrow one. Crossbows will still be allowed
for everything else.

All, if you already have chosen a teammate, please send me an e-mail with
the names. This will help save time at the event. I plan to make a similar
request at the event, just before Last Court, as well. Also, we could still
use one or two more marshals to assist us. If you are interested, please
let me know. You will be able to shoot as well.

Sir Tnek the Ainissestor

_____

From: Kent Baldwin [mailto:whitegrifn@aol.com]
Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2012 10:34 PM
To: 'archers@atlantia.sca.org'
Subject: Archery Tournament at Coronation

Greetings All,

As was discussed on the list before Pennsic, His Highness has requested that
a Team Archery Tournament be held at their Coronation. I will be the MIC,
and I spoke with His Highness about it briefly at Pennsic. The Tournament
will be for teams of two archers, preferably one experienced archer and one
of lesser experience. As much as possible, the shoots will be designed so
that both team members will need to contribute in order to get a high score.

In order to allow archers to select teammates in advance, if they wish, here
are the team guidelines: When possible, the Official Royal Round Rankings
will be used to determine the relative skill levels of the archers. For
archers who do not have a ranking, I will do my best to assign an
appropriate level, based on a brief interview of the archer. A point value
will be assigned to each archer as follows: Novice - 1, Archer - 2, Marksman
- 3, Bowman - 4, Bowman Elite - 5, Grand Bowman Elite - 6. The combined
point value of each team shall not exceed 7. Therefore, a Grand Bowman
Elite must team with a Novice, a Bowman Elite may team with a Novice or
Archer, etc. If you are not sure of your ranking, check the Archery Scores
website at http://www.scores-sca.org/public/scores_official.php?R=2
<http://www.scores-sca.org/public/scores_official.php?R=2&Shoot=2%20%20%20%2
0> &Shoot=2

These guidelines are not set in stone and I reserve the right to allow
exceptions to the guidelines as necessary. If you wish to participate in
the tournament, and have trouble finding someone to team with under the
guidelines, we will find a way to help you.

Lord Leofric and I are working on targets, but as he mentioned previously,
we could use some help to make sure we have enough. From what I have heard,
I expect to have a fairly large turnout for the shoot, and we want to have
enough stations to prevent long waits (and to make a more interesting
shoot). If any one is interested in providing one of the target stations,
please let me know. It doesn't have to be elaborate or complicated, as long
as we can come up with a way to score it in a manner keeping with the team
concept.

We may also need a couple of additional marshals to assist with running some
of the stations. I expect that we will be able to rotate marshaling duties,
and allow the assisting marshals to participate in the tournament as well.
Please let me know if you would like to help.

Sir Tnek the Ainissestor

-------------- next part --------------
An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
URL: <http://seahorse.atlantia.sca.org/pipermail/archers-atlantia.sca.org/attachments/20120923/6ac07774/attachment.htm>

------------------------------

_______________________________________________
Archers mailing list
Archers@seahorse.atlantia.sca.org
http://seahorse.atlantia.sca.org/listinfo.cgi/archers-atlantia.sca.org

End of Archers Digest, Vol 108, Issue 39
****************************************
