My sincerest apologies,

I should have said major archery titles, as there are now several groups who host awesome archery events besides the two title events which the current holder hosts. Many of which do recognize the attending youth archers extremely well.

Uh,
two major archery events????? At SAAD this year we will be implementing
two youth divisions. Kids are 10 and younger. Youth are 11-13.
There will be special targets for these two categories when appropriate, i.e.
typically kids and youth use bows that are not effective at the longer clout
distances. In such case they will have shorter distance targets that score
the same points as adult distance targets. The age divisions were selected
based on expected bow draw weights per age. Typically a 14 year old or
older, who will be shooting with the adults, use a bow of 25 pound draw or
more. In some cases 30 pounds and up. A 25 pound bow set up
correctly can shoot an arrow 100 yards which is plenty for the SAAD shoot
stations. Youth archers are allowed a choice of which targets to shoot
at. i.e. if they choose to shoot the adult targets at a station that has
youth targets they will get bonus points for points scored. The idea is to
reward effort and accepting the challenge.

As in
the past there will be a "classification" shooting station known only to the
MIC, that would be me, the scores of which will divide the archers into four
groups. This way expert shoots against expert and novice against
novice. Keeping the classification station secret prevents anyone from
sand bagging their score on that station to be grouped in a lesser skilled
group. Thus there will be awards for the top three archers in all four
adult groups and both children's groups, six groups in total for 18
awards. SAAD staff are a generous lot!
