Here are the details about archery this weekend (4/17-18) at Le Grande
Tournoi de Amitie (Grand Tourney of Friends) near Raleigh NC:<br>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Friday April 17:<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> For those who come on Friday, I will
be running Royal Rounds starting about 5pm until it gets too dark to
shoot (7:45-8pm).<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Saturday April 18:<br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> Members of the teams will shoot at a
variety
of targets. Based on the scores of each archer accumulates from the
shoots, points
will be awarded to teams for the following:</p>
<ol>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The archer with the highest score
will earn points for his/her team</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Team with the largest number of
archers participating will earn points</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Team with the highest total score
will earn points</p>
</li>
</ol>
<p style="margin-left: 0.49in; margin-bottom: 0in; font-style: normal;">
In the case of ties, for #2 & 3, each team will be awarded the
points for that award. For #1, if archers are on different teams,
each team will get points; however, if the archers are on the same
team, that team will only get one award of points. </p>
<p style="margin-left: 0.49in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><i>(note: the
exact number of points awarded is yet-to-be-determined, in
consultation with the other discipline mashals.)</i></p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Shoots:</p>
<ol>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Short Clout Shoot:<br>
Shoot at a 11ft diameter circle (border of the circle is constructed of
foam pool noodles) on the ground, with an 18-in diameter circle in the
middle (wicker wreath). 1 point for inside the pool noodles; 3 pt for
inside the wreath. Arrows in the noodles score 1 pt. but must have at
least damaged the noodle. Arrows that strike in front and burrow under
the noodle must be entirely within the circle to count (arrows that are
partial under the noodle but did not strike the noodle will not score);
arrows that are at least partially under the back side noodle score 1
pt. Arrows in the body of the wreath itself only score 1 pt. Fellow
team members MAY spot for the archer but must remain behind the
shooting line.<br>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">There be BEARS here!<br>
Four “polar” bears have been sighted and need to be hunted down. The
bears (stuffed animals 10-12” tall) are on the ground, three relatively
close (in the 20 yard range) and one will be farther away. Near bears
score 1 pt each, distant bear is 5 pt. Multiple arrows in a bear only
count additional points if you have arrows in ALL the bears (including
the far bear). Only arrows that stick count.<br>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">“Wand” shoot<br>
Shoot the foam noodles that are arranged vertically. Some are
suspended, others are on stakes in the ground. Staked noodles are 1
pt/arrow, hanging noodles are 3pt/arrow. All arrows must stick in the
noodle; multiple arrows on the same noodle score multiple points. <br>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Additional Rules:</p>
<ol>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Archers' equipment must be inspected
prior to shooting on the range. When inspected, the marshal will hand
the archer a 3x5 score card. The ARCHER should fill out their name and
team on the card.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">All shoots are 6 arrows and untimed.
</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Each shoot may be shot TWICE for
score. For the Wand and Clout, if the archer has 12 arrows, he/she may
shoot both scoring “rounds” in one round (as long as it doesn't
significantly delay the round; at the marshal's discretion, he may halt
the round and ask the archer to shot their remaining arrows the next
round). Each round of the BEAR shoot must be scored and the bears reset
before the next round can be shot.</p>

<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Archers may practice the shoots
prior to shooting for score. However, archers must inform the marshal
that they are shooting for score prior to doing so (by handing the
marshal their score card.)</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">While the range is open, there will
be a standard round target at 20 yrds for warm-up and practice.</p>
