<P>Greetings!</P>
<P>Since none of the other Ladies have had the lack of sense to wade into this discussion, let me be the first to offer my opinion.</P></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>First, having read Lorenzo's point about wrist straps, I went out to a sampling of the Archery pages for the various kingdoms, and found, according to my sampling, that he is correct. Neither Society rules nor any kingdom rules I could find ban their use. East Kingdom specifically allows them. Note I said ALLOWS, not REQUIRES. I would object strenuously to adding another REQUIREMENT. We have enough. </P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Lorenzo is the only Atlantian archer I'm aware of who uses the wrist strap regularly. Given his level of skill and competence, maybe the rest of us should consider using one. ;-)</P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Hence I come down in the Yea column for straps that prevent you from dropping your bow.</P>

<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Second, with regard to the requirement for Marshals to have a current Royal Round average PRIOR TO BEING WARRANTED: This is a requirement in the East Kingdom, who arguably have had the best archery program in the Society - or at least the best I, with my limited exposure, am aware of. Many of the ideas for our program grew from exposure to theirs, I believe.</P>

<DIV></DIV>
<P>I see nothing wrong with requiring Marshals in Training to have a current royal round average. That is a Requirement in the East Kingdom, btw. IMHO, If you're going to be my marshal at an event, or at practice, I want to know that you know how to shoot one. This is a very minimal requirement, which, as has been pointed out, can be fulfilled easily in one day. Why is this a big deal? The rules specifically state that the ONLY TIME a royal round average is required is for MITs prior to warranting.</P>
<P>Hence I come down in favor of requiring Marshals in Training to have a current Royal Round Average prior to being warranted.</P>
<P>Personally, I use the Royal Rounds as a measure primarily against myself, and try to stay out of the competetive fray. Note I said TRY. It is my favorite shoot? No, but it's easy for a fledling group to set up and requires minimal equipment. Also, it's good for perfecting your shooting at known distances. You still need to shoot at variable distances, roving ranges, moving targets if you can get 'em, with as much variety as possible to hone your skills. I spent this past Sunday morning learning to bowfish, and hope to get a chance to practice it this summer since it's supposed to be a really good way to hone your instinctive skills.</P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>I don't care what your ranking is. I do care that you're competent, patient, have a good sense of humor instead of an overlarge ego, and know how to make practice and events fun while staying safe. Unfortunately, we can't write that into the requirements.</P>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>I want to shoot lots of arrows at an event, and I want it planned so that everyone, from a newbie at the line for the first time, to a Grand Bowman Elite, has a good time. It's the Marshals who sell archery to newbies, and without newbies, we'll eventually die, but we also have to keep the top flight archers motivated and coming back for more.</P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>With regard to Jerry's comment regarding marks on risers and strings: Marks on risers and limbs are permitted by the Society, and have heretofore been permitted in Kingdom. It may be that section of the regulations needs to be clarified.</P>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Per Society Target Archery rules, peep sights and kisser buttons mounted on the string are not allowed, and the locators for nocking points "may not extend above or below the arrow nock in such a way as to allow them to be used as sighting mechanisms." </P>
<P>I would prefer that we not go against Society regulations.</P>
<DIV>Note: These are all my opinions and are not meant to offend anyone. I don't claim to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but Ignacio asked for feedback, so here it is.</DIV>
