Noble Friends of the Bow (and Crossbow!):

While digging around for more information on San Marino's crossbow
federation I ran across a brief film demonstrating Da Vinci's design for a
lever-spanning crossbow. Da Vinci's design is in the Codex Atlanticus
(hmmm, how appropriate for us!) dating from 1485. According to Wikipedia,
the design was never produced, that is, until recently when a working model
was built to the plan.

Sorry the video is only in Italian:

Here's the Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapid_fire_crossbow

Is this cool, or what? So here's a question for our DEM to address: Is this
weapon SCA legal?

The next question has to be, is anyone making these things in medieval form
(they are available as modern compounds)?

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Shire of Isenfir TA Marshal
