[Archers] Have you seen this??!!

Period recurve, bring it!  We have never had one show up at Pennsic Period Shoot.

Two points:

(1) The Night Shoot is Lady Sarah Sinclair's baby, not mine, and she deserves the credit for this event. My role is mainly toting heavy stuff and pulling arrows.

(2) What is wrong with a recurve shot off the hand for Lord Naran's period shoot? I have such a period recurve bow, and they are not uncommon in period iconography.

This competition will have both a youth and an adult winner, and is open to all art and science forms, arrow making, leather work, your best Archery & War poem, illumination, target artwork, arrow points, garb, etc. Points will be awarded for authenticity & documentation but also for creativity. The prizes will be $25.00 Gift Certificates to Three Rivers Archery.

And from Lord Naran:  Attention,Pay Heed!!!! this year, for the first time, there will a Period Bow shoot, with prizes, at 12 Noon on Saturday on the Archery Range. Unfortunately, due to space limitations,and sheep(as much as I like mutton) , there will be no clout or flight shooting. However, there will be wreath and wand shooting, as well as a Turkish Puta, and a Mongol/Manchu Tunken( requires 2 arrows with Bunny Buster blunts) and a set of Period RR targets. Updated SCA Period rules require all arrows must be self nocked or horn re-inforced(NO plastic nocks). Hand bows will be either longbows or horsebows. NO shelves of any kind(built-in or built-out) the arrows must be shot directly off the hand. NO pistol grips. Crossbows must be of Medieval design(no Wham-o modern stuff) Garb is not required to match archery tackle for time/culture in order to shoot, but those archers who do so will receive 10 additional points at the start. Any questions, ask me.

Baron Colum will teach his Intermediate archery class Friday at 4:00 on the archery range

Lord Cain is sponsoring at Baronial Archery Champion's Challenge (details to come).

Thursday afternoon there will be a youth archery class and a beginning archery class (details to come)

NOT to mention the awesome Friday night shoot that Lord Mungo and Lady Sarah have devised.
