For those who have a true issue why not allow another round or 5 or 6 arrows from the 20 no time limit.

I have discussed my standpoint privately with the involved parties. I also wanted to post to our populous that the changing of any Kingdom set archery rules is not up to an MIC or line marshal, it is my call as DEM to change or suspend rules. With that said I dont want the precident set of marshals changing RR rules on a whim. RR rules are established to set a level playing field to rank us all, if we are throwing guidelines to the wind, we loose that control. I will entertain exceptions or waivers on a case by case basis to allow our disabled to enjoy the same joy we get from archery to the best of my ability.

Hello,

I had a few questions about how you shoot. I generally promote accuracy over speed on time rounds for all of my archers. How many bolts do you fire in 30 seconds? I have a number of crossbow users who can only get off 4 or so bolts. Even at a max of 20 points, if they do well on the other ranges, they can get a very respectable score.

How is your crossbow set up? Do you use a stirrup or place it on your sternum? Is there a way to relocate your ammo to a more accessible position? Have you tried other firing positions like sitting or kneeling? Maybe we can come up with alternative ways to allow you to shoot faster in your current condition.

Maitresse, as you are aware I am a huge supporter of assuring that our disabled archers are taken care of as much as we possibly can. With that said, we dont have a subsitute RR at this point. As far as your post goes, I would not equate being slower as a safety concern. If there is a real safety concern I would say we need to address that issue because I wont knowingly support anyone being unsafe on our ranges no matter the issue. Not sure what poundage you now shoot but I see new archers performing very well with bows as low as 18 pounds! So yes your scores might suffer a bit being slower in the timed rounds but I would not say that is unsafe. If you as a marshal feel you are being unsafe I would ask that you or the marshals around you correct the issues. I will continue to support changes that help all to enjoy our martial activity but at this time we only have the one set of rules.

Howdy,

I have a question about disabled/handicapped archers and Royal Rounds.  About a year ago, I came down with a chronic illness that changes how I shoot.  I need special equipment and have to sit down in order to shoot and be safe.  With any kind of speed round, I would drop arrows and be unsafe because I lack fine motor control.  I can shoot safely with a trigger, but that same trigger would make it difficult for me to do anything quickly when it comes to loading arrows.  Also, my poundage is lower than can probably do well at the longer distance round.  Now, as for the distance issue, I figure it might be just tough luck for me.  But as for the safety issue . . . does my score have to take a major hit simply because I'm disabled and incapable of doing a timed round?  Is there a different round that can be substituted  for me and for others that are unsafe during timed rounds (mainly I'd be dropping everything and cannot go quickly to save my life).

I'd really like to participate and have had this on my mind for awhile.  After seeing others with a similar problem, I wanted to see if there were options for us so that we could still play and have fun.
