This may be true in theory, I grant you.   However in practice with
fiberglass, aluminum, or steel prods ... Any cast that is lost is
immeasurable.

I've had crossbows left strung for decades, that still measure the same
poundage & inch-lbs as when they were young, by the bowscales that I
have for measuring, and from just experience shooting them.

And you have a much greater chance of hurting the crossbow, when trying
to constantly string/unstring it, especially if a high poundage one.

NOTE: This does not apply to wooden or laminate prod crossbows.  Which
yes, should be unstrung just like a bow/longbow/recurve.
