Yes, I'm not happy with the language, makes it sound more complex than it really is:

Target Design :  Using the compass, draw two half-circles to make an "S" curve that stretches from top to bottom of the target's scoring area:

1) draw a semi-circle that connects the top edge of the 1-ring with the center of the bullseye (set the static end of your compass in the middle of the 3-ring) .This is the top of your S-curve.

2) now draw a semi-circle that connects the center of the bullseye to the to the bottom edge (set the static end of your compass in the middle of the 3-ring). This is the bottom of your S-curve.

If you have done it correctly, you should see a large capital S overlayed on the target's scoring area.

[we have a bitmap image of the finished target to place in this spot]

3) use a marker or fluorescent paint pen to make the S more visible from the 20 yards.

We still have about 24 hours to change it up. If anyone can tweak it to make it easier to understand, take a shot at it please.

We intend to use Nuala's picture as our bitmap image because it makes it obvious.

Can that be added into the Seasonal Challege page without difficulty?

Cheers

Fen

thanks Nuala.  For some reason, the instructions made it sounds more complicated than that.

Grettings archers!
Attached to this email is a photo of the winter challenge ying/yang target face.
(all shot up)
I made it so I thought I would also add a description of exactly how I drew it.
It is just like what Fen told you:

Take one 60 cm Royal Round target.
Bisect it vertically.
Draw two circles, one atop the other, using the radii of the Royal Round (which
you just drew) as their diameters.
At this point you will have a RR target with two circles within, touching at the
center of the RR, each with a diameter of 30 cm.
Starting at the top, draw a heavy line following the upper circle to the left
(counter-clockwise) until you reach the middle of the RR target.

Continue your heavy line following the lower circle to the right (clockwise)
until you reach the bottom of the RR target.
Now you should have a RR target with a ying-yang symbol imposed upon it. Hang
the target so it looks like an "s" -- voila!
I found that the line you draw has to be at least 3/16 inch to 1/4 inch wide or
you cannot see it from 20 yards.

This is so evil and so fun! Hope you guys all enjoy shooting it as much as
needwood forest had designing it!
